The Irish Australian Support & Resource Bureau is a non-profit organisation that was formed in the early 1970s by a group of community-minded people to assist those in distress.

Since then the IASRB has expanded its services to include social and cultural events as well as assisting with welfare issues.  

Our Vision : To offer a place of friendship and support to the Irish Australian Community of Victoria.

Our Mission : To celebrate the Irish Australian community of Victoria and to care for those in need or experiencing hardship or trauma within the community, with confidentially and caring support.


The IASRB invites all those with an interest in Irish affairs to drop into the Bureau. Our doors are always open to working holiday vias and temporary residents as well as those who have been here for many years.

Outreach Service

A Problem Shared is a Problem Halved

The Irish Australian Support & Resource  Bureau’s dedicated Outreach Program  ensures any elderly member of the Irish Community in Victoria maintains important links through visits in their homes, nursing homes or hospitals. Our priority is to care for isolated, elderly Irish people and those considered vulnerable or at risk.

​The program offers information or referral to appropriate government and community resources.  It also offers assistance in completing forms for pensions, health care, accessible transport, rent assistance, Centrelink.  The IASRB provides transport to these agencies or organises for their representatives to visit clients.

Seniors Weekly Lunch

Enjoying the Craic

At the Irish Australian Support & Resource Bureau, we host a lunch every TUESDAY to bring our Senior community together.  A chance to meet old and new friends, to enjoy the craic.  We welcome new members to join us anytime throughout the year.  Lunch is provided at a minimal cost.

Card Players Group

Exploring our Origins

25 Ireland's National Card Game.  If you've been looking for a game steeped in Irish origins, you may just be in luck with the game of 25, a fast paced card game from the rural pubs of Ireland.


EVERY THURSDAY starts 12.00pm sharp.  New members welcome, come along and join the fun.

Shamrock Quilters

A Stitch in Time

The Shamrock Quilters started in the 1980s with the intention of providing a support group for migrant Irish women, where they could meet on a weekly basis. From humble beginnings, the Quilters have grown, proudly exhibiting in Gaelic Park and St Patrick's Day Floats, just to name a few.  Renowned for their  exceptional craft, over the years, the Shamrock Quilters have presented many dignitaries from the Irish Government with gifts of their beautiful quilts.

Home from Home Irish Parents Group

It Takes a Village to Raise a Child

There is a sense of magic in the air where children and their parents gather to play, catch up over a cup of tea and strengthen links within the Irish Community.  The group also has regular catch ups, usually at weekends so that the whole family can attend.

Irish Radio has been on air for over 25 years, and programs are run by a large team of volunteers,  who are also representatives of various Irish organisations.  Each show features a variety of Irish music, interviews and news on Irish events in Melbourne.  News on Irish community events are welcomed and advertised free of charge.
